Y27 - Network migration to NAC
Building Y27 will be migrated to a new network setup on 01.11.2023 - the whole day.
Our server room is inside the building, so all services will be down as well.
During the whole day, the institute will be offline, even WIFI and local desktops will have outages.
It is recommended on this day not to work, neither on-site nor remote with I-MATH IT services.
- All I-MATH services will be inaccessible: Websites, Mail, Thinlinc, Compute, ...
- Email sender from outside I-MATH might receive a mailer daemon error about 'late delivery', but all mails should be delivered after the building is online again.
Computations on our compute servers will continue to run, but won't be accesible during the migration. If the programs needs network acces (license server, internet) they might have problems.
SeminarLive Streaming / Recording won't work in Y27.
- Beamers in Y27 have to be controlled by remote.
Action
- Thinlinc Terminals and printers will be migrated by I-MATH IT Support .
Users with Desktops or Notebooks who uses LAN (WLAN is not affected) have to activate the network authentication (see UZH-NAC-Infos-Users-V1.3-EN.pdf) with their personal credentials.

Roadmap
NAC Migration starts at 07:00. All network (LAN & WLAN) will be switched off.
- We expect that the server room will be back online around 11:00. Depending on the problems, hopefully most services will be back online again (but not the Terminals in the offices).
Update: We'll install OS Updates in the morning and reboot all thinlinc servers.
- Around 16:00 we expect that the Thinlinc Terminals in Y27 are also back online again.
FAQ
- Q: The Terminal in my office shows no login window.
- A: Please power off/on or press a key (if this is offered). The first boot might take some time. If this does not help, contact I-MATH IT Support.
- Q: My Desktop / Laptop has no internet.
