Thinlinc 4.13 / Ubuntu 20.04 / GPU

Beta Test

We would be lucky if a lot of you joins the beta test (9.2.-16.2.2022) during the next days. To do so:

Please log out from your current thinlinc session completely - Menu: System > Logout. This is important cause browser / nextcloud / dropbox really don't like to be started more than once.
Log in with the server name ntl.math.uzh.ch (pay attention to n at the beginning).

If you like to use the web interface, use https://ntl.math.uzh.ch.
By default, when you restart your teminal (e.g. at the morning), the server name flips back to tl.math.uzh.ch. If you're working always on the same terminal, we can change the servername per terminal - please let us know.
When the beta test is over, the regular servername tl.math.uzh.ch will be used again.

PDF Foxit Reader	Currently it don't start - we'll try to fix it

The standard GUI 'Mate' has been replaced by 'Cinnamon'.
Mate is based on Gnome2 and becomes more and more outdated. On Ubuntu 20 we found several incompatibilites (printer disappears, file manager opens often very slowly, ...)
Cinnamon offers a lot of traditional Gnome2/ Mate features like an application menu, a usable notification area, workspaces, ...
If you don't like Cinnamon, Gnome 3 is installed as well - contact us to activate it for you.

Y27: Choose the layout, best before you log in to thinlinc. Lower left corner Applications > Configuration > Keyboard > Layout: 'English (US)' > Edit
The layout selection will be saved per terminal.
If you choose multiple layouts, after reconnecting the thinlinc session the US layout is always selected. Define a key shortcut to switch the layout.
Audio: Volume / Track - if you listen music (like on spotify), try the volume and track keys on the keyboard (only black Cherry keyboards).

If you have trouble by using existing SwitchDrive oder I-MATH Nextcloud:

Take care that all data are in sync. If not, contact support@math.uzh.ch.
Stop SwitchDrive / I-MATH Nextcloud client.
Purge the existing configuration:
- SwitchDrive: mv ~/.config/ownCloud ~/.config/ownCloud.old
- I-MATH Nextcloud: mv ~/.config/Nextcloud ~/.config/Nextcloud.old
Start SwitchDrive / I-MATH Nextcloud client.
Do a full new configuration.
Purge the old data - during configuration, you can configure that !SwitchDrive/Nextcloud purge the old data.

It works, but it's often a pain.
Do not try to install dropbox by your own - it won't work.
Start dropbox via dash, wait at least 30 seconds. If it does not start, try to start it again. If this also fails, contact support@math.uzh.ch
