• Scan Tailor needs 'TIFF' files, not 'PDF'. You can convert PDF to and from TIFF files by using Image Magicks 'convert':

  # PDF > TIFF
  convert source.pdf new.tiff
  
  # TIFF > PDF
  convert source.tiff new.pdf
